I can't critique because I have to pay.
I can't help but notice that there's no straightness in the picture. The lips are huge and are a little awkward. And the eye is a little too close to the side. You did put the eye in the middle of the head like they should. The neck seems really small to me. Okay. You said you wasted a lot of paper to draw this. I can't even waste paper without being REALLY sure I want to draw it and even then that's a maybe. The fact that you can do it means you're willing to take you're time to work something out no matter what. That's a great aspect. I consider what you drew here a first stage into realism. It's light and erasable. If you still have the picture I suggest you work on it. Create a point in the paper where the light will be so you know where to add shadows and highlights. -- Don't judge me! I have fruit cups! I can't really critique because I'm horrible at realism, especially human faces, but I just wanted to say that I really love this, I love the style and how she's showing so much character. Making something technically perfect is hard, but giving personality to your creations instead of just making it something generic looking is just as hard, and you definitely did a great job on that

In my experience with realism, time and patience are key(i have neither...). Start with harder pencils slowly building up values and structure. Then work in darker values with softer pencils. All in all, a good realistic drawing will take hours...I know...ugh...haha.
But I like how you are not afraid to waste paper. That is great! Keep pushing yourself. There is an artist...skottie young...not a realist...but he has incredible work ethic. He has great lessons on pushing yourself and finding out who you are as an artist. Check him out. That might be some help.
Your proportions are great...now you just need to force more detail.
Here are some incredible examples...well beyond what I'm capable of...but if you want realism, these guys are getting it done! Each is a little different so take a look at them and really delve into some thought on what you like and where you want to go with your work.
Keep it up!
